Initial intra-club brewing event

Alright awesome brewers, it is time for the 23rd annual intra-team competition brew! Great job!

From reading World War Z to watching shitty movies like The Road we all fantasize from time-to-time about post-apocalyptic scenarios and how we would prepare for them. Stockpiling ammo and food reserves and talking about when the shit hits the fan has always been trendy, stylish and is a wonderful conversation topic that never gets old.
SRLSY, read this
We need to take this one step further. How will survivors of the apocalypse get drunk? How do you prove your worth in the midst of a society that is rebuilding itself from the ground up? Writing a computer program or making an engineering drawing will probably get you shivved in this dystopian future.
The premise is simple: you are tasked with crafting a delicious, sustenance providing beer using only ingredients available to the common man. All ingredients for your beer must come from a grocery store. No homebrew headquarters or online suppliers are available after the zombies take over. You need to be able, if need be, to travel the world and reteach mankind how to create the most revered of all beverages without the luxury of malted grain, pre-packaged pellet hops and laboratory cultured yeast.
I brewed beer from molasses
You are allowed to use your regular homebrew equipment, but a high volume is not necessary for this brew. You may even want to consider a 3-5 gallon stovetop batch that you can brew in the safety of your own kitchen (safety from the undead and the Texas heat).
We are looking at mid-July as a target brew day for this competition and results/tasting will be about 5-6 weeks later. Feel free to start discussion on the email list exploring loopholes, exploits and other such underhanded techniques that engineers just love to theorize about when presented with a set of rules.

So, what you are saying is that George Washington fought zombies?

Not just zombies, but evil redcoat zombies! His brewing skills ultimately restored troop morale, they defeated the outbreak, and never spoke of it again.
